Blue Room

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year for the year 2020 was celebrated on Saturday, January 25th and this year the animal sign is the Rat.

In Blue Room we made Chinese lanterns, watched some videos of the traditional Lion Dance and did some dancing of our own

Library

We have really enjoyed visiting the library over the last few weeks as part of our group time sessions. We have been choosing our own books from the shelves and reading them independently or with our friends. Sometimes we pick a favourite story which our Key Worker reads to us.
The Library is now open on WEDNESDAYS

8.30-9-15am, 11.15-11.30am, 12.30-12.45pm and 2.30-3.15pm for children and parents to visit and borrow books

Building

The children in Blue Room have been having a lovely time building using an assortment of resources. They have built houses, castles, tunnels, bridges and roads  to use in their imaginative play.

Christmas Workshops

We have enjoyed exploring the different shiny objects in the Christmassy sensory tray. December 2019

Shaving foam

December 2019

The children were fascinated to experience the texture of shaving foam. They were able to make smears and markings using their hands and fingers and used lots of words to describe it - such as 'slippery, smooth, white, foamy, soft, smelly, beautiful, cold'

Working with Lauren June 2019

.Lauren showed the children on the laptop how to locate and print some of their photos so they could make new name cards. The children helped by pressing some of the alphabet keys on the keyboard. Then a few of the children went with Lauren to the printer to collect the papers. Lauren then wrote the names with the children and talked about the letter sounds and names

Exploring clay June 2019

Exploration and wonder as a child studies her reflection

in the microwave oven,

pulling faces and laughing with glee

as she sees the

comical faces she is pulling!
